Cougars Use Big Second Half to Beat Trojans

UPLAND, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (4-5) defeated Taylor University (6-7) by a final score of 12-11 on Wednesday, April 14.

The Cougars could not have written a better second half story. After being down 6-2 at halftime and only having 10 shots in the first half (two in the first quarter), the second half proved to be much different. MVNU used a huge third quarter to get back into the game, and eventually finish it in the fourth. Taylor scored quickly in the third quarter to go up 7-2 before the Cougars scored five unanswered goals to tie the game at seven. Both teams went on to go back-and-fourth for the next quarter and a half. Finally, the Cougars scored two goals in the fourth to push their lead to 12-10, which would be too much for the Trojans to overcome in the end.
