Two Late Goals Push Trojans Over Cougars

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (2-4) fell to the Taylor Trojans (4-2) by a final score of 7-5.

MVNU battled all game long, keeping it close, but fell in the end after the Cougars allowed three goals in the fourth quarter. Two of the three goals were in the later parts of the quarter that ended up being a huge momentum swing that the Cougars could not overcome.

Inside the Box Score

Johnny Grumney scored 2 goals on 17 shots, 10 of which were on goal.

Matt Quire, Brett Townsend, and Jason Laasmar all finished the game with a goal. Townsend also pitched in with 1 assist. Ian Ranck had the other Cougars assist for the afternoon.

Joshua Hageman finished the afternoon with 11 saves, keeping the Cougars within striking distance.

The Cougars were outshot 45-35 while having more shots on goal with 20 while Taylor only had 18.

Men's lacrosse will play at Earlham College on March 17 at 7:00pm.
