Cougars Begin Season at Palace Lanes
COLUMBUS, Ohio. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's bowling team attended the Ohio Bowling Conference Tournament No.1 at the Palace Lanes in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, October 2.
Freshman, Luke Jahn was the lead off bowler during the four regular ten-pin games. He finished 25th overall and had highlight games of 180, 180, and 194. (Average 175.5).
Bowling in the anchor spot was returning senior, Dana Hicks. Hicks finished 29th overall with highlight scores of 174, 178, and 185. (Average 172.5).
Hicks and Jahn shared the roll of anchor throughout their sixteen baker games.
Contributing to the team's success on the day, sophomore Riley Wike averaged 120.2, freshman James Gerken averaged 149, and freshman Blake Crow averaged 154.7.
Going into baker games the men were averaging 154.4, but struggled during bakers. Their baker average was only 137.6, but they did have a few standout games with a 171, 176, and a 185 among their sixteen.

MVNU looks forward to next weekend, October 9 when they will host the first ever Crossroads League Tournament in their home house, Colonial City Lanes.
