Men’s Basketball Downed by No.6 IWU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (14-12, 4-12) was defeated in Ariel Arena by No.6 Indiana Wesleyan University (23-3, 14-2) on Saturday, February 17 by a final of 110-78.

 

Inside the Box Score:

IWU shot 60.00% from the floor (45-75) and converted 34.5% (10-29) from the three-point line.

MVNU shot 46.8% from the floor (29-62) and hit 35.0% (7-20) from three.

IWU outrebounded MVNU 37-30.

MVNU had 19 turnovers in the game which led to 28 points for the Wildcats.

IWU had 64 points in the paint in the game.

Bailey Conrad – 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3PT), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal

Milton Gage – 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-2 3PT), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals

Trent Koning – 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3PT), 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal

 

Coach Ronai's Thoughts:

"Give IWU a lot of credit. They played really well and shot it in today. Again, we had some good segments but our room for error is very small. We have to extend those segments to create momentum. This team will continue to fight until the end.

Really happy for Bailey, Carter, Jeaustin, and Jack on their senior day. I thought all four of those guys left it all on the floor."

 

What's Next:

MVNU men's basketball will be back in action on Wednesday, February 21 against (RV) Marian University in Ariel Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
