Men’s Basketball Defeated by Spring Arbor

JACKSON, Mich. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (13-7, 3-7) fell on the road at Spring Arbor University (11-9, 4-6) on Saturday, January 27.

 

MVNU held the lead for a majority of the first 10 minutes of the first half. With the score knotted at 14 all with 9:29 left, Spring Arbor outscored MVNU 28-10 to carry a 42-24 lead into the break. MVNU was unable to overcome the run that ended the first half for the hosts and would go on to lose by a final of 81-65.

 

Inside the Box Score:

Spring Arbor was clicking on offense as it shot 52.5% from the floor and 36.4% (8-22) from three.

MVNU went cold from the field, shooting 34.4% overall and 22.9% (8-35) beyond the arc.

SAU won the boards 49-30 and turned 11 offensive rebounds into 10 second chance points.

Coach Ronai's Thoughts:

"A lot to learn from today. We did not play our best basketball in the first half and responded better in the second. Credit to SAU, they played really well today. We have to get up and get better on Monday."

 

What's Next:

MVNU is back in action on Wednesday, January 31 at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
