A Smashing Success for MVNU in Quarterfinals Match against Murray State
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team began their playoff run in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) on Tuesday, November 12.
MVNU (4) took on Murray State (5) in the quarterfinals. The Cougars fell behind against Murray State early on and were down 2 stocks for the first half of game one. MVNU equalized the match going into Murray State's final player, which set the path for a narrow victory for the Cougars (12-11).
In game two, MVNU was able to secure an early lead that would be held for the remainder of the match, leading them to victory (12-10). MVNU moves onto Semifinals, continuing their playoff run after impressive play from all four Cougars.

MVNU advances to the semifinals of the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) playoffs with a match against (SVSU) Saginaw Valley State University at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19. The match can be watched on MVNU's Twitch channel or in person at Foster Hall.
