Bio

Jake Hanzie enters his first season as an assistant for the MVNU baseball program in the 2025-26 academic year. 

A native of Creston, Ohio, Hanzie is a 2024 graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University where he earned his Bachelor's in Health and Physical Education. Hanzie was a part of the Cougar baseball program and helped MVNU win a conference championship and make it to Regionals twice under Coach Keith Veale, who has won over 1,100 games in his coaching career and is in the NAIA Hall of Fame.  

Hanzie started his coaching career at John Carroll University for the 2024-2025 season, while also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sports Leadership. In his debut season at John Carroll, Hanzie was the pitching coach and helped to improve the staff in just a short time. JCU finished 35th in NCAA Division III in WHIP and top three in the OAC in Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio, Walks Allowed Per Nine Innings, and WHIP. Jake Corll and Roger Simon both made the OAC All-Tournament Team. Simon finished the season second in the OAC in ERA. 

He currently resides in Creston with his wife, Macyn. Macyn also graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2024.
