Crossroads League Announces All-Conference Baseball Honors
JACKSON, Mich. — The Crossroads League announced its Baseball All-Conference recipients on Wednesday, May 10.
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team saw three members honored by the league.
Second Team All-Conference
Cruz McFadden claimed second team after his great season as a relief pitcher. McFadden led the entire NAIA in saves with 12. The junior only allowed 24 hits, nine earned runs, and four walks in 26 innings pitched on the season. McFadden averaged 8.65 strikeouts per game and had a .276 batting average against.
Casey Kalman claimed the honor as well after a great year at the plate. Kalman finished 17th in the conference with 56 hits, sixth in doubles with 16, and 18th in batting average at .341. The junior catcher homered six times, which tied for the team lead. Kalman had a fielding percentage of .983, along with finishing fifth in the league in put outs with 274.
Gold Glove
Zackary Hoop found himself on the gold glove team as a second basemen for the second consecutive season. The sophomore finished 2023 with a fielding percentage of .982 and 76 put outs. Hoop was fifth in the conference in double plays with 24 along with 12th overall in assists with 84 on the season.
