Baseball Begins Crossroads League Tournament with Loss to Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — After winning its play-in game on Wednesday, May 3 against Bethel University, the No.5 Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (23-25) took on No.2 Huntington University (36-14) on Thursday, May 4.

MVNU would fall to the hosts by a final of 7-4. MVNU held a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, but the Foresters mounted a comeback by scoring three runs in the inning to take a 6-4 lead. Huntington then tacked on another run in the bottom-eighth, taking a 7-4 advantage. The Cougars were unable to mount a comeback, ultimately falling in the end. Damien Kandel and Ty Williams each had two hits and an RBI to lead MVNU. Joe Poremsky and Zackary Hoop each had an RBI as well.

What's Next

With the loss, MVNU will now look to fight off elimination from the Crossroads League Baseball Tournament against No.1 Taylor University. First pitch on Friday, May 5 is set for 11:00am.
