MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (10-18, 7-15 CL) dropped both games of its doubleheader to (RV) Indiana Wesleyan University (24-11-1, 19-3 CL) on Thursday afternoon, April 6 at Cougar Field.
In game one, the Wildcats scored 10 runs on 12 hits and took advantage of five MVNU errors on their way to a 10-2 win. Jarin Bertke took the loss on the mound for the Cougars despite throwing seven strong innings. He allowed only three runs on six hits, striking out eight and not allowing a single walk. MVNU's two runs came on a Ty Williams two-run single in the bottom of the seventh.
In game two, the Cougars had another tough game at the plate as they only mustered four hits. Casey Kalman had two of the four. Josh Pettit pitched 5.0 innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits and no walks. He struck out four in the 0-2 loss.
What's Next
The Cougars will have a break over the Easter weekend and will look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday, April 11 when they play host to Lourdes University for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00pm.
