NAIA Releases Winter Sports Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mount Vernon Nazarene University's competitive cheer, men's bowling, women's bowling, men's basketball, and women's basketball teams each had players who were honored as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. 

To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students need to have a minimum of a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.5 on the 4.0 scale. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport and have attended MVNU for at least one full year. 

Three members of the competitive cheer team were honored as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, including sophomore Hannah Kanagy, junior Kierstyn Keeper, and senior Naomi Kinne.  

Two members of the men's bowling team earned the Scholar-Athlete honors, which include senior Jacob Burre and junior Kobe Green. 

Two women's bowlers earned the NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor, including sophomore Rebekka Matlack and senior Abigail Larkin. 

The men's basketball team had six honored members as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Those six include sophomore Peyton Heiss, sophomore Mason Harvey, junior Grant Burkholder, junior Devin Dreier, junior Roman Lori III, senior Drew Koning, and graduate student Trent Koning. 

The women's basketball team had five members who were honored with the NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, including sophomore Olivia Skillings, junior Camryn Cummings, junior Naomi Keib, senior Angela Roshak, and senior Jaelle Keller.
